OstellOlinda is located in the Affori district, in the north-west of Milan.

Affori: swapping trams!

In the Milanese imagination of yesteryear, Affori marked the boundary between the city trams and the tramway that led to the northern suburbs (now the changeover takes place in Comasina).
Like other neighbourhoods in Milan today, it was an autonomous municipality until 1923, dominated by the Litta Modignani family’s properties and the centuries-old plane tree (known as La Pianta), said to have been planted by Napoleon, perhaps in memory of a beloved woman..

Affori and surroundings: some tips

Villa Litta Modignani

Always known as the Villa of the village of Affori, it enjoyed its heyday during the 19th century, becoming one of the most renowned villas in the Milan countryside. It houses the neighbourhood library.

Alaska Libreria

The only bookshop in the neighbourhood, since 2021 it has been organising reading and poetry groups, book presentations, small festivals and talks.

Eufemia

A place where you can do your daily shopping and find agro-ecological food products collectively selected by members, respecting workers, the environment and local areas.

Osteria del Biliardo

This unexpected trattoria is not a place of nostalgia or a past that no longer exists, but of a present that is made up of flavour and hospitality.

Fiasco Vineria Friulana

To purchase wine, or for a pleasant aperitif with a glass or bottle and a platter, we recommend this informal but very nice Friulian wine bar.

Mamusca

Two stops away by underground, a community hub where you can have breakfast, lunch, snacks and aperitifs.

Scamamù

Reverse syllable writing by Mamusca, a bookshop that is both a cultural venue and a meeting place open to the neighbourhood and then to the city.

Nuovo Armenia

It promotes an inclusive and multidisciplinary cultural programme and a culture of community, in an urban public space involved in a bottom-up redevelopment process.
